It is important to give usable skills to summer staff working directly with others. This 90 minute course will take you and your staff through the basics of mental health care through a camp lens.

Main Course: 90-minues

  • Talk about what is a CRISIS vs what are CONCERNS.

  • Learn how to mitigate the situation before it starts (taking breaks, looking at overtired campers, and overstimulated campers)

  • What do you do to keep calm when this happens?

  • Know when and how to get more help.

  • Know what type of help to get.

  • How to handle threats of self-harm

  • Working to end sarcasm with children.  

  • COVID kids and the new group of campers we are seeing.

  • How to handle post incident self-care 

 

Supervisor section: 30-minutes

This section is an additional add on section that can be added to the course, used only for staff who supervise others. We will base our learning on expanding the support of our staff.

  • Learn how to step in to help, but not to step on the staff. 

  • Mid-Summer refresher for Mental Health Care at Camp.


This course can be taught in person or on-line. Additional segments can be added upon request. Behavior Management, Scenario Sessions etc. Each section is approximately 30 minutes.
